Self-Isolation Diaries – Week 112

Greetings, Internet! I hope everyone’s staying as safe and sane as can be. This week, I finished up a non-dissertation draft essay, witnessed two glorious Mets games, and watched some playoff hockey. Daily summaries below!

Day Seven Hundred and Seventy-Eight (4/29/22)

  • Went to Push to Walk! Did some handcycling.
  • Realized I should’ve included a couple of things in my re-enrollment application. Whoops. Here’s hoping they still let me continue in the program. Also, I should probably get the rest of my dissertation committee together.
  • My boyfriend’s here! We took a turn about a nearby park and dog-watched. And then we tried to take selfies and failed miserably, haha.
  • Wait, where is “Jeopardy!”? All I see is the NFL draft. Nooo!!!
  • YEAH, METS PITCHERS NO-HIT THE PHILLIES, THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! #LGM
  • <cue explaining to the boyfriend why this is a big deal and why I am way too jazzed>
  • Just kidding, there is no being way too jazzed about no-hitting the Phillies.
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: <happy no-hit dance>
  • Currently looping: The sounds of dogs barking at the nearby park.

Day Seven Hundred and Seventy-Nine (4/30/22)

  • Caught up on “Moon Knight.”
  • Caught up with a friend from elementary school! She’d just traveled all over southeast Asia.
  • Alas, the Mets did not win.
  • Omg, so much editing. But I am determined to send this tonight.
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: So tired. Maybe I’ll send this draft tomorrow when I have the energy to compose a “here it is!” type email.
  • Currently looping: Brandon Flowers’ live acoustic performance of “Crossfire.”

Day Seven Hundred and Eighty (5/1/22)

  • Brunch with my boyfriend!
  • Wandering around NYC =)
  • Went into the Harry Potter store and resisted the urge to buy anything Hufflepuff related (the series’ author has enough of my money).
  • Bought some treats for my sister for when I go visit her ^_^
  • Watched some baseball in the apartment with the boyfriend. His baseball tolerance is really going up, and he seems to like the curmudgedon-iness that is Buck Showalter.
  • The Yankees and Mets have the best records in baseball right now. Gadzooks.
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: What a lovely Sunday =)
  • Currently looping: The sounds of baseball broadcasts?

Day Seven Hundred and Eighty-One (5/2/22)

  • Did the FES cycle.
  • Went to my favorite chocolate place to get some treats ^_^
  • Went to the gynecologist.
  • You know that feeling when you’re just about done with a draft, but you’re like, “…maybe I should read this one more time”? Yup.
  • Alas, the Mets are losing.
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: Really tired from a lack of caffeine maybe?
  • Currently looping: The sounds of baseball.

Day Seven Hundred and Eighty-Two (5/3/22)

  • Went to Push to Walk! Very tired.
  • Met up with my bestie! We caught up and ended up watching the Rangers-Penguins triple overtime game. Didn’t really notice it until she mentioned it, but hockey kind of has no rules, haha.
  • Did I drink because the news sucks? Yes. Absolutely.
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: Why am I so tired? Maybe PMS?
  • Currently looping: So much hockey overtime. SO MUCH. And the playoffs are different from the regular season in that there’s no shootout.

Day Seven Hundred and Eighty-Three (5/4/22)

  • May the Fourth be with you! (Yes, I’m one of those people. Sh.)
  • Still tired. Wow. Definitely PMS. Also been retaining water.
  • I was planning to see a Nightwish concert this Sunday, but the covid numbers are going up and it’s too close to a cross-country trip, so I had to put the tickets up for resale. Here’s hoping someone actually buys them.
  • Aaand the Mets got their butts kicked. Alas.
  • Made some phone calls and sent some emails that were kind of overdue. Still need to send another email, but it’s going to take a while to write. Gah.
  • Finally sent off that higher ed draft I’ve been working on! Huzzah! Now I can get to work on my dissertation chapter draft that’s half finished!
  • Therapy!
  • And Mattea Roach continues her “Jeopardy!” streak! Twenty-two games in a row!
  • Laundry!
  • Phoneday =)
  • Wordle: In three!
  • Currently feeling: Still tired, but at least I could wheel around my neighborhood without too much exhaustion earlier today.
  • Currently looping: Lights’ acoustic rendition of “Almost Had Me.” I think I’ve listened to two of their more stripped down versions, but I kind of love this version a bit more.

Day Seven Hundred and Eighty-Four (5/5/22)

  • Did the FES cycle.
  • Did some laundry.
  • My mother’s here! Pastries were had.
  • Wow, this “Jeopardy!” episode was awesome, and Mattea Roach is a boss.
  • And the Mets are losing 7-1. Wow. Alrighty, time for playoff hockey.
  • Whoo, let’s go, Rangers!
  • WHAT IS THIS METS GAME?! 4-7 in the top of the ninth?!
  • 5-7?!
  • 7-7?!
  • 8-7?!
  • THE METS CAME BACK TO WIN IT. HOLY MOTHER OF PIE. (Shoutout to my writing/baseball buddy who alerted me to the game while I was in my standing frame and away from the television so I could put on a gamecast.)
  • Phoneday in which I read the play-by-play to my boyfriend, who seemed amused at how jazzed I was at the whole thing.
  • Wordle: In three!
  • Currently feeling: LFGM!
  • Currently looping: The Postal Service’s live album, “Everything Will Change.”

Thanks so much for reading! Stay safe, enjoy the hockey playoffs, and LGM!
