Greetings, Internet! I hope everyone’s as safe and sane as can be. This week, my surgeon gave me a positive follow-up, my bestie and I renamed “Star Trek” with the more accurate “Hot Men in Space,” and my nephew was born! Daily summaries below!

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Two (3/4/22)

• Post-Op Countdown: Day Thirty-Six of Thirty-Nine. Drainage was suspiciously light?
• My mother and I really like this pastry at the bakery around the corner. Alas, ‘tis only around for the spring.
• Call with a post-doc about a course he’s letting me take over for the day next month. It should be fun!
• Did some dissertationing. Definitely about 40% done with this very rough draft??
• Watched last week’s SNL with the boyfriend =)
• Wordle: Haven’t done it yet?
• Currently feeling: So many dissertation things to catch up on!
• Currently looping: Halestorm’s “Mz. Hyde” live performance.

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Three (3/5/22)

• Post-Op Countdown: Day Thirty-Seven of Thirty-Nine. Drainage, why must you plague me so?
• Watched Taylor Tomlinson’s Netflix special with the boyfriend. I know, he’s really appearing quite frequently in these posts. Probably going to tone that down, haha.
• Wordle: In two! Huzzah!
• Currently feeling: So sleepy.
• Currently looping: My Spotify “Burn Things” playlist.

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Four (3/6/22)

• Post-Op Countdown: Day Thirty-Eight of Thirty-Nine. Lighter drainage today.
• Woke up to the amazing news that MY NEPHEW HAS ARRIVED!!! My sister was in labor for like, half an hour after her water broke.
• Watched some Paralympic sled hockey. And you should, too, because it’s awesome.
• Shared a pastry with my mother. We’re big fans of the spring menu at the nearby bakery.
• Did some dissertationing.
• Phoneday is everyday =)
• Wordle: In five!
• Currently feeling: I HAVE A NEPHEW! And he’s ADORABLE. And I’m trying so hard not to freak out over tomorrow’s followup. Send positive thoughts if you can spare them, Internet. I’d really appreciate it.
• Currently looping: Regina Spektor Radio on Spotify

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Five (3/7/22)

• Post-Op Countdown: Day Thirty-Nine of Thirty-Nine.
• The surgeon said that I’m healing, and that everything looks great. In other words, I can resume normal activities. Just one more follow-up to go to make sure the rest of the procedure heals the way everything else has thus far.
• SO FREAKING RELIEVED.
• Cue the celebratory matcha and pastry!
• Lunch with my parents!
• Virtual hangout with guitar buddy! It was long overdue.
• My bestie’s here! Cue the celebratory ice cream!
• Phoneday, of course! =)
• Wordle: In five!
• Currently feeling: So relieved. And so worried that I might somehow mess everything up before the actual final follow up?
• Currently looping: Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me”

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Six (3/8/22)

• Back to the normal routine! Oof, have not done this in a while.
• Thank goodness my bestie is here for moral support ❤
• Did half an FES cycle workout.
• Did some dissertationing!
• Phoneday =)
• Watched “Star Trek: Into Darkness” (i.e. “Hot Men in Space”) with the bestie, and wow, that is one really hot cast. And I ship all of them with Kirk. All of them.
• Wordle: In four!
• Currently feeling: Still getting my bearings, but I’m glad I got some writing done today! And the FES cycle!
• Currently looping: My “VALentine” playlist.

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Seven (3/9/22)

• Still getting back to my former routine. My body is still adjusting, but things were smoother than yesterday.
• So grateful to my bestie for being here ❤
• Therapy!
• Some dissertationing. It’s like I’m just putting together a bunch of disparate articles to form some narrative.
• Phoneday =)
• Did the standing frame!
• Wordle: In four!
• Currently feeling: Still getting back into things, but I’m getting there.
• Currently looping: Floor Jansen’s live performance of Nightwish’s “Élan.”

Day Seven Hundred and Twenty-Eight (3/10/22)

• Body’s still adjusting to the former routine.
• Did 30 minutes of FES cycle.
• My bestie picked up my repaired wheelchair tire. Huzzah!
• My boyfriend’s here for dinner and a movie =)
• Wordle: Oops.
• Currently feeling: So thankful that my bestie was here for moral support for like, three days ^_^
• Currently looping: Hella classical music.
