Return of the Blog! And Other Updates

Greetings, Internet!

After a completely unannounced (but needed) hiatus, the blog is back! I hope that your new year is off to a fabulous start, and that you’re staying safe if you live in the LA area.

This is going to be a very short post, because I just wanted to provide some updates on the direction of the blog.

First, we’re a long way from the pandemic lockdowns, so I’m shifting from weekly recaps to more focused topics, similar to the posts I wrote when the blog first went live back in…2016?

I plan to post once or twice a month. The topics will range from grad school (I finished! The doctorate is mine!), to life on wheels, to whatever else ends up finding its way here. If I am fortunate enough, a blog post may be a link to something I wrote on another website, because at the moment, I have no full-time job (lol, academia, you’re so funny with your tenure-track job scarcity for medieval historians), so I’m going to do the writing thing for a bit and see how that pans out.

The YouTube cover channel is going to be quiet until further notice. It’s not that I don’t adore music, but at the moment, it’s not a top priority. I will most definitely be picking up the guitar later this year to prepare for a music contest (not Tiny Desk, think way more local), and I shall write about that. But for now, do not expect any covers anytime soon.

The featured photo in this post was taken by a classmate of mine, after she traveled all the way up to NYC to treat me to a birthday brunch.

In the meantime, thanks for reading, subscribe if you haven’t, and you’ll be hearing from me soon!

Val

    1. Thank you so much! I’m so sorry, I went on an unplanned hiatus while I scrambled to finish the rest of the dissertation and never checked the comments. I hope all is well with you!
