Week of 11/11-11/17

Greetings, Internet! I hope everyone’s staying as safe and sane as can be. This week, I went to Push to Walk for the first time in two months, went to traffic court with my mother to fight two wrongfully issued tickets, and continued to work on a dissertation chapter. Daily summaries below!

November 11, 2022

  • Overnight drainage not bad, so yay.
  • I am ridiculously tight today, and I blame PMS.
  • The Veterans Day parade is literally outside. So many bagpipes.
  • My SCI trainer spent 1.5 hours getting my legs and lower back (and shoulders also?) to not be tight. Le sigh.
  • Did my dissertationing and got in my 500 words!
  • Caught up with my bestie over video chat. I miss her face.
  • One of the #triotime gals came over for wine and tacos.
  • I am so full of tacos.
  • And drunk.
  • Wheeeeee!
  • Time to drunk text!
  • Wordle: In four!
  • Currently feeling: Drunk. Yay!
  • Currently looping: More of the Arch Enemy “Deceivers” album.

November 12, 2022

  • Overnight drainage light, so, dare I hope?
  • Did the FES cycle for 45 minutes. I think I can go back to an hour next week!
  • Called my niece to wish her a happy birthday!
  • My boyfriend’s here! We went on an adventure to get doughnuts.
  • Mmm…doughnuts.
  • Okay, we should’ve gone to the doughnut shop on the Lower East Side, and not the kiosk in Grand Central. But darn it, the Grand Central one was closer. Like, the LES location makes the doughnuts there, and then ships them out to their other locations (i.e. the kiosk), so they’re not as fresh. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still delicious. Just not as fresh.
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: We shall see how the drainage is later, but right now I’m just happy I was able to go outside on a nice day.
  • Currently looping: A couple of Music League playlists.

November 13, 2022

  • I don’t understand drainage anymore. I just don’t.
  • My boyfriend and I finally finished “Rings of Power,” and dang, that Sauron reveal. Although, fine, the internet spoiled it for me in advance (thanks, Internet). Still a good reveal. And I made popcorn for the first time in forever, so that was nice. As with everything, my boyfriend grinded pepper onto it. ‘Twas nice.
  • That moment when you get to a certain word count in your dissertation chapter, start feeling good about yourself, and then realize you didn’t adjust the word count to exclude footnotes. Ugh. There go about 700 words.
  • When date night is you writing your dissertation while your boyfriend plays Runescape on his phone. But also we have “Celebrity Jeopardy!” and “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” in the background.
  • Domesticity can still be date night, right?
  • Wordle: Whoops.
  • Currently feeling: WORDS. WHY.
  • Currently looping: Haven’t listened to much music today.

November 14, 2022

  • Overnight drainage not bad.
  • Did the FES cycle for about half an hour because my SCI trainer couldn’t make it.
  • Therapy!
  • Got a facial for the first time in two months.
  • Didn’t do too much with the dissertation, apart from tinkering with it and setting up the next section (I’m about 30% done with this draft?).
  • Wordle: In two!
  • Currently feeling: Kind of sleepy, but also it’s kind of nice to have gone outside, even though it is rather chilly now. But at least it feels like autumn.
  • Currently looping: Some combination of songs that I’m trying to learn how to sing for a virtual masterclass. Because of course I signed up for one of those.

November 15, 2022

  • Overnight drainage not bad. Daytime drainage is also not horrible.
  • Went back to Push to Walk for the first time in two months.
  • I am going to be sore tomorrow.
  • Of course my mother and I got bubble tea afterwards, even though it’s pretty chilly outside.
  • Writing workshop! It suddenly occurred to me how rarely I get drunk for these things anymore. Hmm. I should get some cider for next time.
  • Wordle: In four!
  • Currently feeling: Glad that I got through a workout.
  • Currently looping: Not much music today, but Push to Walk had the Pop Rocks Sirius XM station on.

November 16, 2022

  • Another doctor’s office visit, but this was an annual checkup. I have a new gynecologist and she’s delightful.
  • Traffic court with my mother to fight two tickets (why on earth we got two tickets when our disability parking permit was clearly displayed is beyond me). Both cases were dismissed. Huzzah!
  • We celebrated with a matcha boba swirl.
  • LEVAIN HAS PEPPERMINT CHOCOLATE COOKIES. STOP THE PRESSES. I MUST HAVE THE NOMS.
  • Wait, how are they not available in-store for local delivery yet? GET ON THIS, LEVAIN.
  • Sat through a meeting that went well over an hour. Thought about doing more dissertationing, but then decided to watch YouTube videos with my mother.
  • I’ll get to work later this week.
  • Wordle: In four!
  • Currently feeling: Didn’t get any dissertationing done today, but got so much other stuff done, so that’s good at least.
  • Currently looping: Haven’t been listening to music today, but oh goodness, I need to work on vocal exercises for a vocal masterclass this weekend.

November 17, 2022

  • Did my first full FES cycle workout in like, two months.
  • Did some vocal exercises because dang, I am out of shape (vocally and, well, otherwise).
  • My friend came over to help me declutter my makeup and skincare and oh my goodness, there was so much expired stuff. At least I could show off some well-loved eyeshadow palettes (goodness, I bought so many the first couple of years of my PhD program). And it helped to have someone there to say, “Okay, no, that goes in the trash.”
  • I’m tired from decluttering. But also, dang, space looks a lot less cluttered (I mean, obviously).
  • Wordle: In four!
  • Currently feeling: Feels good to have fewer items. Also, I really need to rein in my beauty spending. Like, I’m heading in that direction, but it’s still good to set a goal.
  • Currently looping: Lots of Spiritbox because TICKETS GO ON SALE TOMORROW. That’s right, they’re finally headlining a tour! Although I kind of feel like a bad fan for missing the presale.

Thanks so much for reading! Stay safe, get your flu shot, and always fight wrongfully issued traffic tickets!
