Greetings, Internet! I hope everyone’s staying as safe and sane as can be. This week, I binged the rest of “Stranger Things: Vol. 4,” watched Wimbledon, and decided to seriously look into getting a tattoo. Daily summaries below!
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-One (7/1/22)
- Went to Push to Walk!
- Got bubble tea with my mother! It’s like, over ninety degrees and humid out. Bubble tea is a necessity at that point.
- And we also ate peach pie.
- Did I binge both episodes of “Stranger Things: Vol. 4” and did it take four hours? Yes. Yes, I did.
- Folks, pretty solid season. There was one scene that was so metal, and I loved it. More metal, please.
- Can’t wait for other people to watch this so I can ramble about “Stranger Things” with spoilers.
- Wordle: Whoops. But also, I did spend four hours watching “Stranger Things.”
- Currently feeling: Whoever cast the kids at the beginning of “Stranger Things” did an amazing job, because they’re just getting better and better with each season.
- Currently looping: Spotify put together a playlist that would theoretically save me from the Upside Down. It’s missing Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life,” but it’s still a great playlist.
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-Two (7/2/22)
- Did the FES cycle. Scrolled Twitter for “Stranger Things” reactions (television show reactions are like, the best use of Twitter).
- Rewatched some “Stranger Things” scenes that were metal (okay, one scene that was metal. BUT IT WAS SO METAL).
- Sad Mets. Alas.
- My boyfriend’s here! We watched “Teen Titans Go! To the Movies” and ate pie with ice cream.
- I got a price quote back for my tattoo inquiry, and it’s hundreds of dollars. For a two-inch tattoo. My goodness. I could get at least five vocal coaching sessions out of that.
- Pondered whether the tattoo is really worth it.
- Maybe I’ll put this on hold for now. I admit, I’m a splurger for shiny things. But even this splurger has limits.
- Wordle: Whoops.
- Currently feeling: I should get back into my harsh vocal lessons.
- Currently looping: Still on my Spotify Upside Down playlist, although apparently you can’t share the link they give you? So I’m not sure what I shared yesterday. The songs on the playlist change with each day, anyway, so I suppose a link isn’t all too helpful.
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-Three (7/3/22)
- I made breakfast burritos!
- It’s kind of hot outside, and I can’t regulate my body temperature, so my boyfriend and I are staying in until I can handle being outside.
- We watched some cartoons.
- And then an episode of “The Haunting of Hill House.” It’s a good self-contained horror series (in that I don’t watch it and think, “I MUST CHECK ALL CLOSETS BEFORE GOING TO BED”)
- And then we played chess. He is much better at this than I am.
- Went out for a walk, and I was shocked at how quiet NYC was at 8:30pm. But I guess people went out of town for the Fourth of July??
- Wordle: Whoops.
- Currently feeling: I should cook more often. I used to cook all the time in England (well, mostly out of necessity, because takeout was both expensive and unimpressive).
- Currently looping: The eerie quiet of NYC?
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-Four (7/4/22)
- Happy Fourth of July!
- Watched Wimbledon, like any good American on Independence Day.
- Then watched the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, 75% for the announcer. He’s a national treasure.
- Worked out while watching grown men eat an obscene amount of hot dogs.
- A friend installed a new backrest on my chair. Huzzah for back support!
- My baseball/writing buddy stopped by for a bro night! We watched the Mets. Kind of worked out that the Yankees didn’t have a game, otherwise we would’ve (most likely) had to flip back and forth between games.
- We also watched this clip of Kenan Thompson playing Big Papi cooking a big Dominican lunch in quarantine (which I also subjected my boyfriend to, because I think everyone needs this joy in their lives).
- Wordle: Whoops.
- Currently feeling: Huzzah for bro night!
- Currently looping: The Spotify Upside Down playlist, which keeps rotating songs randomly?
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-Five (7/5/22)
- Oh man, I still have emails to send.
- Also, I’m not sure I want such an intricate and sentimental tattoo anymore. Maybe a cupcake. Yeah. That’s more fitting. My personality is cupcake. Or pie.
- Did the FES cycle.
- Therapy! Deep questions and all that.
- Music hangout! Did some guitar work.
- Mixup with takeout that involved an order getting here two hours late. Rawr.
- Feels like vintage Mets losing to a team 1-0. Alas.
- Wordle: In three!
- Currently feeling: The rainy gray day outside was kind of meh.
- Currently looping: Journey’s “Separate Ways” remix from the “Stranger Things: Vol. 4” soundtrack.
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-Six (7/6/22)
- Went to Push to Walk!
- Got some bubble tea on the way back. Am feeling kind of tired, but the bubble tea isn’t helping. Oh dear.
- Hmm, I have an appetite, so that’s good.
- <hypochondriac mode>
- Negative COVID test. I’ll test again tomorrow, but also, my period really hurts right now and I didn’t sleep well last night, so it’s entirely possible that these are the issues and I’m in super hypochondriac mode.
- Yay, Mets!
- Wordle: In three!
- Currently feeling: Achey and crampy, but my period has been like that for a couple of days now.
- Currently looping: Not so much looping, but my vocal coach has a podcast now! I’ve finally caught up with all the episodes. It’s so cool to hear different lead vocalists talk about their own journeys with singing and performing.
Day Eight Hundred and Forty-Seven (7/7/22)
- Was feeling so much better than I was yesterday! Huzzah!
- Did the FES cycle.
- My mother’s here! She brought bubble tea. And baked a pie.
- Called the tattoo parlor and folks, it looks like I’m getting a tattoo sooner than expected! I’ve got a really neat design in mind that feels like it could be worth the price tag.
- Got to see one of my childhood friends for dinner! It was so awesome to catch up. And drink tequila.
- Wordle: In three!
- Currently feeling: So glad that whatever I was feeling yesterday has gone away. I guess I was just really tired and needed to catch up on sleep. Also, tequila is strong.
- Currently looping: This metal scene from “Stranger Things: Vol. 4, Part 2.” MOST. METAL. EVER.
Thanks so much for reading! Stay safe, wear a mask (those omicron numbers are going back up), and listen to metal!
