Greetings, Internet! I hope everyone is staying as safe and sane as can be. This week, the sky turned yellow/orange, medical things went awry, and I watched a lot of comfort shows. Daily summaries below!
June 2, 2023
- Phone calls, emails, you get the drill.
- So much writing, and rewriting.
- Worked out with an SCI trainer!
- My boyfriend’s here! He brought food.
- We watched the Chris Rock’s “Selective Outrage” Netflix special. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a comedy special.
- Let’s go Mets!
- Oof, that was disappointing.
- Currently feeling: Happy for writing!
- Currently looping: Spotify DJ.
June 3, 2023
- My digestive system is mad at me. This is happening a bit too frequently.
- Pulled myself together so that my boyfriend and I could go sneaker shopping.
- Sneakers acquired!
- Along with a matcha latte on the way back.
- I was sad, so my boyfriend tried to cheer me up. We watched “Judge Steve Harvey,” and man, that show is ridiculous.
- Currently feeling: Upset about this ongoing drainage issue. My boyfriend excels at moral support, so I’m grateful for that. Truly.
- Currently looping: Not much music today.
June 4, 2023
- My boyfriend was going to visit his family, so he made me dinner in advance and put it in the fridge, to save me some time.
- Seriously, what am I bringing to this relationship?
- Ah well, the Mets will get them next time?
- THERE’S GOING TO BE MORE “IS IT CAKE?” I AM SO EXCITED.
- Got some writing done, and scheduled an email to be sent, so that’s good.
- Watched “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing.” Why am I so hooked on this?
- Currently feeling: When am I going to get those MRI results back?
- Currently looping: My VALentine playlist.
June 5, 2023
- Did the FES cycle. Watched another episode of “The Great.” What an awesome show.
- Went outside to pick something up. Came back with the thing I needed, and a matcha.
- I’m realizing that I may have allergies. <sniffles>
- Also, do allergies make you thirsty? Because dang, I’m thirsty.
- I really need to stop agreeing to do stuff for free. Especially when I do not have time.
- And especially when I’m being asked to do something that, upon opening the file, will literally take me hours.
- Yeah, I’m passing this off to someone else. Preferably to the person who is actually an editor.
- Wordle: In six! Also, dang, Wordle’s been kind of tricky lately.
- Currently feeling: Working on setting boundaries is always tougher than I think. But I’m setting them. Also, I’m getting really annoyed at people who expect other people to do free labor. That’s rude.
- Currently looping: I started listening to the new Avenged Sevenfold album, but it’s kind of hit-or-miss. I respect their willingness to experiment.
June 6, 2023
- I called an SCI nurse, because things were kind of rough this morning.
- Nevertheless, my mother was like, “We can still get to Push to Walk!”
- So we did, although the workout was a bit abbreviated.
- And we still got our bubble tea, so huzzah!
- So my catheter company is like, trying to cut my catheter limit for the month because Medicare isn’t paying them. Or something like that. Anyway, thanks a lot, Biden.
- My uncle sent pineapple cookies from Taiwan, and I am very excited ^_^
- Wordle: In four!
- Currently feeling: Why, catheter company, why?!
- Currently looping: Not much music today.
June 7, 2023
- Wasn’t feeling super hot today, so my mother and I watched the BBC “Pride and Prejudice.”
- This was SO made for the female gaze.
- So, um, it’s smokey and yellow outside.
- Those Canadian wildfires are kind of intense.
- It’s SO YELLOW outside.
- And orange. Yikes.
- Got a facial, because wow, my face is congested.
- Worked out with an SCI trainer, but was so exhausted.
- It looks less yellow outside now, but dang, that was scary.
- Sigh, Mets, why?
- Wordle: In four!
- Currently feeling: Kind of terrified to see how yellow it was outside this afternoon (I didn’t take a picture, but you can find them all over social media). I hope the fires in Canada are out soon. For east coast people, Wirecutter already has reviewed the best air purifiers, so you know which to get. Because apparently wildfire smoke blowing in from Canada is a thing we have to worry about now.
- Currently looping: Sasha Colby’s “GODDESS” performance from the RPDR season 15 finale. It’s SO CATCHY.
June 8, 2023
- It’s not yellow outside today! Huzzah!
- Did the FES cycle. Watched another episode of “The Great.” Love it.
- Looked at my makeup brushes like, “Oh dang, I need to wash these.”
- Met up with a friend for dinner! We tried a vegan place, and it was one of those places that tries to do fun things with vegetables, instead of relying solely on meat substitutes. I also took a bunch of photos because I’m starting to be a fan of leaving reviews on Google Maps. [The featured photo is a mezcal and passionfruit cocktail.]
- Hey, remember those bathroom repairs that needed to happen? I don’t know why, but I’m not hearing back from people I should be hearing back from, so I’m going to have to hassle them tomorrow. Fun times.
- Okay, I think the Mets lost because umpires can’t tell when the opposing team failed on their checked swings. Robertson should have the save! <cries>
- Stupid sweep in Atlanta.
- Wordle: In four!
- Currently feeling: So glad that the air quality is noticeably better than it was yesterday. Might still keep the air purifier going overnight, just in case.
- Currently looping: The Killers’ live performance of “Runaways.” Every now and then I remember how great one of their songs is, and then I need to find a live performance on YouTube. So good.
Thanks so much for reading! Stay safe, stay sane, and get an air purifier if you don’t already have one (or build one)!
